The YMCC Laker Under 16s capped off an extravaganza of junior cricket with a convincing victory over the Wangaratta Magpies in front of a huge crowd at Stan Hargreaves Oval.
Bowling first the Lakers restricted the Magpies to 63 off their 21 overs with tight and length bowling whilst the ground fielding was both skilful and energetic.
Hudson Gillies was outstanding behind the stumps, with clean hands the youngster highlighted his potential with the gloves.
Josh Ednie was the pick of the bowlers picking up 2 for 8 off 3 overs with full length bowling.
Josh McCabe bowled with great pace and patience whilst spin duo Jobe Kennedy and Austin Willett were both able to put pressure on the opposition.
The batsmen were given the challenge of making 20 runs or face 20 balls, with this in mind all the batsmen batted with intent to score by pushing the singles, running hard between the wickets and hitting the loose balls.
Skipper Oscar Willis 22 off 20 balls, led the way with the brilliant innings of class and power whilst Caleb Mitchell 19 of 18 used his feet to the spinners by hitting the ball through the infield.
Bowler turned allrounder Rory Bartlett made a strong 20 runs of his 20 balls whilst Hudson Gillies, Jyda House and Oscar Elliot all relished their batting opportunity through big boundary hitting.

The Under 16 Lakers will enjoy a bye next week before taking on the Benalla Bushrangers at Stan Hargreaves Oval on February 2 and 9.
