Trailing all day they dug deep to record a fantastic win, with Bob Liddell leading all day to win 28/23 and Marie Whitehead who hit the lead only in the last couple of ends winning 19/15 and Doddy going down 17/22.
They also sit fourth on the ladder.

Wednesday social bowls saw 20 bowlers take to the green and the winners were Les “ Bloody” Wilson and the new stick man in Bill Jenkins with 2 wins and +22 and the runners up with +15 were Don Tipping and Peter Tudor.
It came to notice last week that some players are still not filling in the voting slips, it’s not that hard to do the right thing, its club policy and it doesn’t take that much time so just “DO IT”- after all we do it to help our selectors.
In other breaking news the club are glad to welcome onto the Bowls Committee Lorraine Stone who has a wealth of experience and Kim Johnson who might only be new to the club but also been on many committees; she will bring a fresh approach and new ideas. Welcome aboard ladies.
On December 6 YMGCR Christmas dinner will be held, it’s not a bowls club function (there will not be one this year due to Covid issues). There will be a limited numbers so please call Greg Fisher.
On a sad note the club lost one of YMGCR legends in Ian “Wicky” Holmes.
Ian had been sick for a while and he finally succumb to his illness last week. Ian was all-round sportsman in the local area; in his younger days he was a very good swing bowling and a handy batsman for Lake Rowan and also represented the local region at Bendigo Country Week.
He started his lawn bowls career at St James where he had a lot of success and won the club singles championship and when he retired from the family farm, he then went on to bowl for YMGCR and won the singles championship in 2000-1.
He was also a very keen golf and on Monday nights he would be seen playing indoor carpet bowls at ClubMulwala.
On a personal note Wicky and I (Ray Brown) brought the same model car and quite often we would catch up with each other in the golf club car park; I would have to get into his car and show him what certain buttons were for.
To Pam and the rest of his family our sympathy goes out to you and Ian will always have a special place in our club.
