In an even team performance Gus McMillan was the standout player with a 100% win rate for the day and all participants attested to a great day out.
Gus continued his good form into the following week with a win in the Club Challenge round 2 event on Monday, April 1.
Gus had to get past Darren Edwards in a semi final and then proved too strong for Debbie Harbrow in the final.
Deb has also been in great form recently with a couple of wins earlier in the year.
Wednesday, April 3’s social night saw Nev Page fall over the line against Hans Lang, who has been in very good form, especially in the mid-week events.
Monday, April 8 again saw Gus McMillan victorious in the Diggers Tribute round to continue his solid run of form.
Gus plays off one of the lower club handicaps, so his consistent results are testament to his skills and capacity to rack up higher level scores.
Social Play on Wednesday, April 10 saw Ashley Nickolls victorious over the ultra-consistent Hans Lang in one of the bigger fields for the year.
TAB Sportsbet apparently has Hans at a very short price to collect next time around based on his recent form.
The Autumn Pairs event commences on Monday, April 15 and will continue over a 2 month period culminating in the final on May 27.
This is a unique event as it includes singles and pairs matches in each round, with all players rated off existing club handicaps.
No market has been officially framed but eyes are on the combinations of Jake Thompson and Debbie Harrow and Club Treasurer Darrel McKernan and recent Bruce Bond trophy winner Darren Edwards.
The Snooker Club are always looking for new members and with events held every Monday and Wednesday evenings there are plenty of opportunities for new players to join in.
There is a handicapping system so players from beginners to independently rated experts can compete equally.
Club members also have access to the 2 full size tables at any time for practice or social play.
Please contact the club on 0497 06244 or visit one Monday or Wednesday evening by 7pm if you would like to give snooker a try.
