Fifty-seven junior golfers mainly throughout Victoria competed in four age groups in the 2019 Yarrawonga Junior Open last Thursday and Friday.

Forty-eight boys and nine girls played Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort’s Murray Course on Thursday and the Lake Course Friday, in the Under 21, 18, 16 and 14 age groups. Three girls each played in the Under 14 to 18 age groups.
Local Ben Casley, off a four handicap, played in the Under 18 category, shooting 79 both days for a sixth age group finish and an overall 11th finish out of the boys.
The Under 18 winner was Nathan Page from The National Golf Club with a 73 and 65 for a total of seven under par 137.
Charlie McKenna, who lives in Tocumwal and plays at YMGCR, fired rounds of 83 and 89 in the Under 16s for a 12th age group and a 33rd overall finish.
Oliver Ngo from The Commonwealth Golf Club had rounds of 82 and 75 to win the Under 16s.
Golf Australia conducted the tournament, with Victorian Events Officer Lachlan Scott at the helm.
“It all went really well,” he told the Yarrawonga Chronicle. “The courses were very good and the kids enjoyed themselves.”
Most of the 57 participants who played in the previously known Stuart Appleby tournament were from Victoria.
