“We’re looking forward to a great day,” RSL Sub-Branch President Ian Summers told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
“Two students from Yarrawonga College P-12 and two Sacred Herat College students will conduct this year’s 6.00am Anzac Day Dawn Service with the assistance of the Wangaratta Cadet Unit which includes Yarrawonga residents.”
Mr Summers and RSL secretary Brian Cossar OAM are expecting big crowds. “The community is always very supportive of the day, which is greatly appreciated by all who fought for our country and relatives of those former servicemen and servicewomen,” Mr Cossar said.
“We have excellent representation from people wanting to lay wreaths,” Mr Summers said.
“There will be about a dozen wreaths laid including one by Goulburn Valley Shepparton by Yarrawonga-based students.
The shires will be represented by Cr Andrew Kennedy Mulwala via Federation Council and Cr Peter Mansfield of Moria Shire Council.
The Catafalque party comprising four members of an armed guard will assist with the ceremony. Beforehand, Sun Country Vehicle and Machinery Club will be using members’ cars to transport our most senior war veterans.
