She's one of a group of educators, Elders, language and cultural custodians, musicians and researchers who have launched a songbook and album, using several languages of Western Australia's Kimberley region.
The book, Buga Yanu Junba, which means songs for young children, features songs in Bunuba, Gooniyandi, Walmajarri and Kimberley Kriol with English translations at a local early childhood education centre in Fitzroy Crossing.
Ms Hand, who has lived her whole life in the small town, 400 kilometres east of Broome, said music and song had always been part of Aboriginal people's cultural identity.
"Singing in language has always been part of us," the Walmajarri woman told AAP.
"We learned all of our songs just listening to our mothers, our grandparents or when there was a corroboree on, music was always part of us."
The writing of the songs was sparked by a University of Melbourne musician and researcher, Gillian Howell, and produced by music organisation Tura.
With each song carrying knowledge and stories unique to the Kimberley region, Ms Hand said the songbook was a valuable resource for educators and communities alike.
She sees the process of putting together the album and book as a kind of healing, as the young people involved built their confidence with language.
"The young people wanted to learn and wanted to retain their language through song," Ms Hand said.
"The lyrics our young people put together, and the pride that I saw and the development of all these young people, that's wonderful."
Published by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, the songbook will have lasting impacts for Kimberley communities to teach young people and safeguard their languages.
Senior language custodian and songwriter Patsy Ngalu Bedford said the book would be a dream come true for past generations of community Elders.
"I'm very proud to see the vision that was created by my Elders all those years ago still being carried on today," she said.
"Those Elders have left us, but their dreams are coming true."
Elder and co-researcher June Nixon also acknowledged the work of past Elders and community leaders.
"If my Old People were here now and listened to these recordings, they'd be so proud to see the little ones grow and carry the knowledge from them in their hearts," she said.
