Australia Day is typically celebrated with barbecues and picnics, while councils hand out awards to members of the public and community organisations for services rendered.
A key part of the Australia Day events is the swearing in of new citizens.
Moira Shire Council Chair Administrator John Tanner said he looked forward to swearing in Australia’s newest citizens.
“Extending a warm welcome to new citizens in Moira Shire is a significant responsibility and one of the most special honours in my role,” he said.
“I encourage everyone to join us in welcoming our newest Australians into our community.”
