Benalla street art goes bridal

By Benalla Ensign

The vibrant streetscapes of Benalla have created a bold backdrop for a wedding magazine photoshoot.

While Chloe Jones of Chloe Jones Photography had heard of the Benalla street art, she had never seen it in person before shooting Urban Kaleidoscope for bride and groom magazine.

“I love photographing at locations that I haven't discovered and I'm always inspired to capture something unique,” Ms Jones said.

“As I arrived at each artwork, a new wave of excitement and ideas would come to me.”

For the Shepparton-based photographer it was larger-than-life skeleton in Insane51's Falling In that stood out as a highlight.

“We arrived at this venue not knowing what artwork to photograph, but I was so impressed by the sheer scale and the fact that it was so different to the others around town,” she said.

With couples often stepping away from tradition, Ms Jones said she was excited to showcase a unique location and recommended locals incorporate the street art into their wedding day photography.

Olivia Cooney from Precision Event Management said it was a no brainer to get involved in the photoshoot.

“I was almost relieved that someone else saw potential in this small beautiful town of mine,” Miss Cooney said.

“I never would have imagined styling props and wedding gowns in front of our street art, but that's the beauty of working with a team of other professionals.”

The magazine features the Benalla event planning and styling business’ work with Miss Cooney and Ash Wileman even upcycling milk crates to create industrial props.

“If you had of told me when I started this business that a year later, I would have not only my work but my hire props in a magazine - I would have said you're crazy,” Miss Cooney said.

“I've found that it doesn't matter how many years of experience or what I've achieved, I still get so thankful for someone else believing in me.

“However, I couldn't have made it happen without my stylist sidekick Ash Wileman.”

Precision Event Management was not the only Benalla business involved in the shoot with Blooms on Bridge florist Amanda Fita creating the bright floral arrangements.

“One of the great things about being a small business owner in a regional town is the connections you form with other business owners in your town and towns nearby,” Mrs Fita said.

“Being involved in the bride and groom shoot was such a great opportunity to collaborate with other businesses, see what they're doing and share ideas.

“It also allowed us to have some fun and try some creative ideas which our brides might not think to ask for otherwise.

“We'd like to thank bride and groom for the work they're doing showcasing some of the great providers and vendors in the Goulburn Valley and surrounding areas.”
