Tribunal sentence to be appealed

By Cobram Courier

A Rumbalara Football Club under-17s player has been handed an 18-match suspension after pleading guilty to two charges of intentionally striking another player.

The club has appealed the decision though, with a date for it to be heard yet to be confirmed at the time of writing.

The incidents happened in last month's Murray Football League grand final against Cobram at Finley Recreation Reserve.

“At the Murray Football League independent tribunal held on Wednesday night, a Rumbalara under-17s player pleaded guilty to two charges of intentionally striking another player,” a league statement read last week.

“The player was subsequently suspended for a total of 18 matches.”

Due to the ongoing nature of the appeal process, the league will make no further comment until a decision was reached.
