YMGCR Bowls
Pennant Finals
Tuesday, February 25 - Midweek Preliminary Final.
YMGCR V Wodonga at Corowa Civic.
Talk about pressure! The Midweek A1 had a big day at the office against Wodonga. It was up and down all the way and either side could have gone on to the Grand Final.
So, with 2 rinks completed it was still anyone’s game. The pressure was on and Anne Miles team certainly rose to the occasion.
On the 24th end Anne pulled off an amazing save by killing the end.
The replay of the end saw her save the end again by taking the jack to the ditch and following it into the sand for one shot. What a champion!
The last end was tense and the spectators sat quietly, enthralled by what was happening.
We ended up one shot short. BUT, Hold your heads high A1. You did the club proud.

ClubMulwala Outdoor Bowls
Tuesday, February 25 – Midweek Qualifying Final.
Division A2 – Club Mulwala 68 defeated Wodonga 67.
Wodonga are, and rightly so, considered a powerhouse in bowls in the Ovens and Murray Bowls Region.
They take their bowls extremely seriously and have a plethora of exceptional bowlers in their ranks.
Club Mulwala Outdoor Bowls respected them for their bowling achievements however, Club Mulwala are confident in their own bowling prowess and believed, given the right circumstances and playing to their potential could win this very important game to take them to the final.
And so it was.
Some very tight heads and wonderfully skilled bowling produced by both sides and with one rink picking up 7 and 6 shots in the last couple of ends Club Mulwala were able to achieve their goal.
Well done to the club and a huge thank you to the small but proactive supporters that travelled with them.
Saturday, February 29 – Weekend Division A4 Final.
Division A4 – Club Mulwala 117 defeated Swanpool 99.
Dropping 6 shots on a rink on the first end is not the beginning one wants in a final.
However, Club Mulwala are a side of 16 players and, as team inspirational motivator Mark Smith has stated on many occasions, we play for the side, not individual team’s or rinks.
Of course, there were butterflies and apprehension, however belief and a wonderful supporter group helped to achieve the team goal.
Having just been promoted to this Division from Division B2 win last year, this is an amazing result and one that was celebrated appropriately.
A special thank you to the wonderful supporters who travelled on the bus with the players and gave them an inspirational win.
You were truly magnificent.
The club would also like to acknowledge the swanpool team who were wonderfully skilled bowlers to play against and exceptionally gracious in defeat.

One more final for the 2019/2020 to be played against corowa rsl and the results will be known before this goes to print.
Let’s hope it is positive news with another win; which is achievable if everyone plays to their potential and as a side.
