Forty-five high-production Friesian and crossbred cows from Arryanne Farms averaged $1500 with the highest price being $2200.
Craden Dairies averaged $2200 for 65 Holstein cows which had spring calves. The highest price was $3200 for a red and white freshly calved cow.
Northern Victoria Livestock agent Craig Cox said it was a successful sale.
“All 100 per cent of the two dairies were sold,” Mr Cox said.
“The vendors were all happy with the day.”
Mr Cox said the day marked the end of the agency’s association with Arryanne Farms.
“Over several years they have supplied us with several dispersal lines; they have been one of our biggest clients.
“Now they have purchased a caravan and they’ll be tripping off for some well-deserved holidays.”
A further 350 head of various dairy cattle were then sold to the delight of one buyer who told Mr Cox that the day was a “perfect one-stop shop” for establishing his own dairy.
“The gentleman said he would normally go to three sales for what he wanted,” Mr Cox said.
“He rang us up all excited and said he needed a few bulls and some cows.
“He got what he wanted and then had a nibble of some unjoined heifers.”
This third sale was from the stock of 20 vendors, with 150 head coming from a Cobram seller.
The top price for females was $800 with an average of $550.
The highest price from the 60 bulls on offer was $3500, with only two of them unsold.
Another sale of 30 of Craden Dairies’ autumn calving cows and freshly dropped cows (November-December) will be held at Shepparton Regional Saleyards on Friday, December 8.
