More players on the Deni Sports Stadium’s indoor court also meant a lot more ‘Falcons’ (blokes getting hit in the head by the ball), which was very entertaining for the spectators but not so good for the players.
In the end it was the Tyn-Men who claimed back-to-back Dodgeball titles. Tom Druitt and Bailey Townsend were the stars for the victors, while a back court collision between skipper Jack Tyndall and Jack Tonta was a highlight.
Tyndall and Druitt also wore a good falcon each, proudly ‘tagged’ by Mick Barnett.
The Tyn-Men won their three contests on the night, claiming eight sets in total.
Mac Attack, Pitts’ Posse and Holobowski’s Hoods all claimed one contest each, however ladder leader Macs were given second spot and three premiership points with superior set wins score (eight sets).
Posse and Hoods collected five sets each to finish equal third.
Some polished dodgeball performances from thirds players Duncan Hughes, Cooper Willoughby and Tom Bradley could point to some regular call-ups for the under 17s footballers.
Best players: Townsend, Druitt ($30 IGA vouchers), Brett Rose, Scott Atley ($30 Globe vouchers).
This week the Rams will turn their attention to volleyball for round seven of the competition.
‘‘The boys have been enjoying the round ball sports so we’ll continue along that line for now. We’re thinking of wrapping up the competition with a gymnastics championships at the stadium and a pool comp at the Globe Hotel, but we’ll see how it works out,” Rams co-coach Sam Hall said.
‘‘Either way the lads are having a lot of fun and it’s been a great way to keep everyone connected.
‘‘I’m just hopeful they haven’t got too used to the comfort of indoor winter sports!’’
Sporting Globe Challenge ladder: Mac Attack 20 points (135%), Pitts’ Posse 15 (92%), Tyn-Men 15 (80%), Holobowski’s Hoods 13 (102%).
