The park is home to more than 300 iconic native animals, including koalas, Tasmanian devils, short-beaked echidnas, Alpine dingoes, and a mob of mischievous meerkats.
Visitors can roll up to the spacious café and enjoy a warm brew while watching the meerkats’ playful antics before exploring the 55 hectares, including 33 ha of wetlands.
Kyabram Fauna Park life sciences manager Tim Sinclair-Smith said the meerkats had recently added a new member to their mob.
“We’ve had a 10-year-old male meerkat, Juno, travel from Melbourne Zoo to join our mob here, so it’s fascinating for visitors to see their group dynamics evolve,” Tim said.
“Visitors can also enjoy the beautifully upgraded park grounds —perfect for a cosy picnic — as well as refreshed animal habitats, now home to some new and curious faces.”
Kyabram Fauna Park is also home to the temperature-controlled Reptile Habitat, which features over 10 reptile species and beautiful green tree frogs.
Notable residents include South-east Asia’s reticulated python, the world’s most venomous and longest snake.
Novice bird watchers and avid twitchers can hide among the trees in the refurbished bird hide and spot dozens of unique bird species.
The hide’s 360-degree view allows visitors to see thousands of migrating and native bird species, including great egrets, nankeen night herons, brolgas and royal spoonbills.
Take your adventure to the next level with one of the unique animal experiences.
These include a close-up with everyone’s favourite dozey marsupial – the koala, a hosted tour of the Reptile Habitat, or an opportunity to meet Australia's most dangerous bird — the cassowary.
