Vic Country Veterans to call Heathcote Home

By McIvor Times

THE Vic Country Veterans Cricket Club will now call the Heathcote Cricket Ground home.

The club, a nomadic member of the Over 60s Division of the Victorian Veterans Sunday Cricket Competition for the past twelve seasons, will share the facilities at Barrack Reserve for the upcoming season with the Heathcote Cricket Club.

The team consists of players from all over Victoria, though a large percentage are originally from the Bendigo region.

The competition - which is not played for premiership points - has a main emphasis on participation.

The competition has sixteen home and away games played during the season and games are shared among all players on the playing list over the season, with five matches to be played at Barrack Reserve on October 13, November 17 and 24, December 15 and February 2.

The club holds its training at 10am on Friday mornings at Harry Trott Reserve in Kennington, though there is no compulsion on players to play or train each week, with availability completely up to the individual.

The club is also setting the goal of playing in the over 50s competition in the near future.

The club is continuing to look for new members, and are very keen to talk to any player over fifty years of age who may be interested in having the occasional game or even a more regular game on a Sunday during the cricket season.
