The monthly Euroa store cattle sale saw a yarding of 1573 attract strong demand from buyers who snapped up steers in prime condition.

The offering was dominated by Angus cattle and included 400 head from Minto Gen Pastoral from Deniliquin.

Manny Schembri sold a pen of 34 Angus cattle for $2330/head and was more than pleased with the result.

“We sold a pen about 12 months ago in similar condition and they went for about $1700,” Mr Schembri said.

Elders agent Joe Allen said the October 6 yarding included a good run of more than 1000 steers and the sale met with fierce competition from buyers.

Steers sold up to $2600 in the 450 kg range and good quality stock were bringing 600 to 700¢/kg.

Mr Allen said there was considerable demand from feedlots.

He said demand was driving the prices up and with the good seasonal conditions, the offering was in better condition than last month.
