'Not loving it': tech outage puts bite on Maccas

"We are aware of a technology outage which impacted our restaurants - the issue is now being resolved," a McDonald's spokesperson said.

"We thank customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. 

"Notably, the issue is not related to a cybersecurity event."

The issue appears to have started after 4pm, with reports of similar outages around the world including in the UK, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan.

"We can confirm some restaurants are back online and serving customers, and we are continuing to work to restore all remaining restaurants as soon as possible," the spokesperson said.
