Fast forward to last Friday at the Woods Point Bentley Wood Health and Aged Care where the couple featured in the facility’s inaugural commitment ceremony.
Civil celebrant Rhonda Livingstone of Yarrawonga explained to the 70 residents and staff witnessing the ceremony how the happy pair met in the facility’s garden at 7.00am last May when Margot was having a smoke and coffee whilst Joe was watering the garden.
“Joe thought she looked a bit of all right!” Rhonda said. “Margot delayed their first date to McDonald’s. Now they’re best friends.
“Joe says Margot has a wonderful attitude and Margot says Joe has a gentle, kind approach to others.”
“I’m a cougar now!” 84-year-old Margot told the Yarrawonga Chronicle. “Joe is only 82-years-of-age!”
Rhonda told the big gathering that Margot and Joe thank all being here “in this fabulous facility”. “They can’t see a future without each other,” she said. “They’ve deepened the bonds of love.
“Margot and Joe have declared their commitment in front of you all. To see an older couple loving each other is the best sight of all.”
Bentley Wood Health and Aged Care Director of Nursing Marita Seamer said the organization was very happy to provide the venue for the commitment ceremony.
“We were delighted to host our first commitment ceremony,” she told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
