He wants a review of the now 50kmph zone from the Mulwala Canal at the end of Melbourne Street to the outskirts of town at the 50kmph signpost for the speed zone to again become 60kmph.
“Nothing’s been mentioned. What is going on with it? It’s a joke,” he said at council’s monthly meeting on July 16.
“I’ve had so many people complain. You’re coming from Corowa, 100 to 50, bang! Nothing seems to be happening.”
The speed zone of 80kmph from the railway close to Savernake Road along Barooga Road should again become 100kmph according to Cr Kennedy.
“There’s not even a house out that road,” he said.
Acting Director Engineering Services Leigh Ashford responded: “We will make sure the matter is on the agenda for the next meeting.”
The Local Traffic Committee meets bi-monthly and includes a Roads and Maritime Services representative.
In other news, Federation Council will construct a Bus Bay inside Mulwala’s Riverland Gardens Estate on Kingfisher Drive (east side) during the 2019/20 financial year. Children safety signage is to be installed on Tocumwal Road.
Construction of a second Bus Bay on Acacia Drive near Savernake Road will be discussed between council and the developer when that entrance to the estate is opened.
