These sessions were aimed to promote the ‘girls got game’ initiative as well as the game of basketball and a healthy active lifestyle.
Makenzie Miller, an American native living in Australia as an import for the North East Bushrangers Basketball travelled around the region, hosting class training sessions within local schools and said she has enjoyed teaching the students about the game she loves.
Makenzie, as well as being a handy basketballer, is also a qualified teacher in the US and has worked as a teacher’s aide in Australia.
“It has been great to see the students start enjoying basketball and to get them into the sport young,” Makenzie said.
“I also studied to be a teacher in the states so its good to get back into the schools and teaching students about the game I love.”
