Manufactured by CIVIQ in Silverwater NSW, the $4,000 fountain was decided by Rotarians as a way of marking the 150-year-plus existence in recent years of Yarrawonga and Mulwala.
“Yarrawonga/Mulwala is a hot place and we thought the drinking fountain would be a mark of celebration of the milestone ages. It’s an acknowledgment from our Rotary club,” Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Club spokesperson Peter Bennett told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
The 850mm tall Aquafil Bold drinking and bottle refill station is distinguished by its strong, sleek stainless steel design, engineered to endure outdoor public environments. The design features a drinking fountain with protective rubber mouth guard and an anti-bacterial bottle refill nozzle.
It is the fourth such drinking fountain donated by the local Rotary club, with three installed in Yarrawonga at River/Woods Road, Rotary Park in Belmore Street and at the showgrounds pavilion.
Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke was on hand at the official handover of the water fountain by Rotary, the first such type in Mulwala on Monday.
“We are very grateful to the Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Club for the drinking fountain. It’s sure to be well received by the community and visitors to town, especially on warm to hot sunny days,” he said.
“It’s another positive, another fine asset, for Mulwala and provided by such a good organization as Rotary.”
