A 54-year-old Victorian man was fined at a club in Mulwala where he was found drinking and playing gaming machines after entering the state with a work permit on Friday, August 14 after licensing officers from the Murray River Police District were conducting business inspections.
A 58-year-old woman was also fined for breaching NSW Public Health Orders after she was found drinking alcohol and playing gaming machines at a club in Barooga on the same day with a permit stating she was only entering the state to provide care.
Both were issued $1000 penalty infringement notices for failing to adhere to the conditions of a border exemption permit.
Stockfeed fire
It was a busy night on Saturday night for local Emergency services. Yarrawonga Fire Brigade together with Mulwala Fire Rescue, Yarrawonga Police and Yarrawonga SES attended to a fire at the rear of the Multicube Stockfeed.
All units worked well together to achieve a great outcome.
Police and fire investigators are continuing their investigations into the fire that destroyed approximately 100 bales of straw. The fire is believed to have started at approximately 8.30pm.

Some smoke may still be visible over the next couple of days, but please don’t be alarmed as business owners are working to completely finish extinguishing the fire.
Cannabis seized
A search under warrant was conducted at a private premise in Telford Street, Yarrawonga on August 19.
As a result of the search cannabis was seized and a 18 year old male and a 19 year old female were both charged and bailed on possesion and use of a drug of dependence to appear at the Cobram Magistrates Court on February 10, 2021.
Burglary and theft
A 47-year-old male was arrested and charged in relation to burglary and theft which occurred in the Yarrawonga area on August 24.
The burglaries occurred at Parks Victoria Depot and a church. All property was recovered, and the male was bailed to appear at the Cobram Magistrates court at a later date.
