Ms Lovell first raised the issue of safety concerns at the intersection in 2017 and not satisfied with the lack of action, continued to press the government to install rumble strips on the Katamatite-Yarrawonga Rd to warn motorists of the impending intersection.
Ms Lovell has recently received correspondence from the Minister for Road Safety and the TAC Jaala Pulford informing that rumble strips will be installed on the road, making the intersection safer for road users.
The Benalla-Tocumwal Rd Katamatite-Yarrawonga Rd intersection has been the scene of many vehicular collisions over the years, including fatalities, serious collisions and many near misses.
The action comes after many constituents had contacted Ms Lovell to get improvements at the intersection, including a nearby resident who has been regularly subjected to vehicles colliding through her front fence after drivers have mistakenly driven through the intersection.
“I am pleased that the government has responded to my advocacy and will now install rumble strips on the Katamatite-Yarrawonga Rd to warn motorists of the approaching T intersection, making it safer for all road users,” Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell said.
