Based around this year’s festival theme ‘Love to Celebrate’, Federation Council’s Festival of Fun for Seniors is a series of organised tours encouraging people to get out and about, have fun, and celebrate the wonderful contribution seniors make to our community.
Guests can hop on a bus, be chauffeured to the event, and enjoy spending time with like-minded people.
Federation Council Mayor, Cr Patrick Bourke said, “This year the festival is looking fantastic with something for everyone to do.
“It has a new name change from the ‘Baby Boomers Bus About’ to the ‘Festival of Fun for Seniors’ after feedback from Council’s Ageing Well Advisory Committee.
“The Festival of Fun for Senior’s allows residents to connect with services and activities available to seniors across the Federation Council area.
“It provides opportunities for seniors to spend time with friends, meet new people, learn new skills and most importantly have fun.”
Events are free and people can attend as many events as they like. Buses will be available for people to pre book their seat on, or they may choose to make their own way there.
Five events are scheduled over the two-week program and return buses to and from each event will run from Corowa, Howlong, Mulwala, Oaklands and Urana.
“I encourage all our senior residents to join us for this celebration. Based on the extremely positive feedback we hear each year from attendees, this event is just going from strength to strength, and I would strongly encourage anyone who has not been to any of these events before, to come along, along with encouraging our newest Seniors who have just hit the magical 55!” Cr Bourke said.
