Tuckerbox Auctions, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala will conduct the auction at the Yarrawonga Town Hall over the long weekend in support of the Rotary club’s local district bushfire appeal.
The idea formulated by Dominic Fotia of Dominique’s Jewellers was put to Tuckerbox who gave their enthusiastic support with both businesses organising and running the auction.
Mr Fotia said the opportunity for the community to donate goods and services for auction has seen a great number of items, including some unique pieces, been contributed for the cause.
“We have been really pleased with the response, particularly of the retail who are doing it tough yet have generously donated,” Mr Fotia said.
Other items to go up for auction range from collectibles and antiques through to modern décor and furniture, accommodation and holiday vouchers up to $1000, jewellery, household goods and appliances such as a barbecue, an oven and more.
Local renowned artist Janet Leith has also entrusted the organisers with two stunning paintings for auction.
“We really have got something for everyone, and we encourage all locals to come down because there is likely to be something to appeal to all and it’s all for a good cause,” Mr Fotia said.
“Tuckerbox Antiques and Dominique’s Jewellers will not retain any profits from sale of goods, i.e. the sales commission, plus money left over from the buyer’s premium after costs will go to Rotary for distribution.”
Mr Fotia also mentioned local family John and Marg Marchant have donated a swag of items since selling their home.
Items can still be donated but must be delivered to Yarrawonga Town Hall before 12 noon on Friday, March 6. Pick-up can be arranged if necessary.
All monies raised will be distributed by Rotary District 9790 to those affected by the recent bushfires in the North East and Southern Riverina.
This is a great gesture from Tuckerbox Auctions, which is operated by father and sons, John, Brad and Grant Clark. Working from their base in Gundagai, they have specialized in antique and estate sales for more than 40 years and over this time have become highly commended auctioneers.
With a contact list of thousands, they are able to mount full social media as well as traditional media campaigns and can utilise on-line bidding at auction.
Organisers believe up to 500 items could be auctioned with up to $10,000 going to the Bushfire Appeal.
Business houses are also encouraged to make goods or vouchers available to be auctioned.
Similarly, members of the public might like to see some of their little used quality possessions turned into cash for a commendable cause. The full hammer price of donated goods and services will go to the appeal.
Registration of items for sale, with commission to the appeal or as donations can be made at Dominiques Jewellers, 71 Belmore St, Yarrawonga or by phoning 03 5744 1345 or by email atdominiquesjewellers@gmail.com.
