For almost 60 years the historic building at 38 Belmore Street has been occupied as an accountancy practice.
The building, which was originally the site for Yarrawonga’s first post office, had more recently been occupied by Jeffrey Haebich who sadly passed away on November 11, 2019 after a long illness.
Way back in 1963 the building was the site of the first accounting office in Yarrawonga after it was purchased from the Commonwealth Authorities by WT Easdown & Co Charted Accountants.
The same company then engaged Jeff Haebich as a trainee accountant at just 17-years-old. Jeff successfully finished his training as a charted accountant a few years later and continued practicing in the same building for another 56 years.
Between 1963 and 2019 Jeff saw the accountancy practice change from WT Easdown & Co, to Price Waterhouse, to MBH before eventually taking over himself creating Jeff Haebich Charted Accountants which had been the constant for the past 20 years.Former partner and Mr Haebich’s executor and trustee, John Easdown, spoke glowingly of his support to the community and clients.
“Jeff was a person who did not value highly enough the effort that he put in.
“During his professional career he a gave a lot of support to all clients, many of whom were treated as Honorary Audits, in support to each of their causes.
“As trustee of Jeff’s estate, myself and Kaye and on behalf of Jeff’s family Danielle, Darren and Gareth would like to thank all of his clients for their loyalty and support during the past 20 years.”
Mr Easdown confirmed the tax and accountancy side of Jeff Haebich Charted Accountants has been officially sold to Potts & Schnelle who are based in Corowa and the audit practice has been sold to Peter Mogg of Mogg Osborne who are based in Cobram.
