The president of the north east branch of the PMAV Brian Lyons, took 14 members to Corryong and joined BlazeAid to assist in the cleaning up and fencing on properties which were burnt out during the recent bushfires.
There were up to 10 teams of volunteers with six to 10 per team from all over Victoria and NSW.
The stories of hardship and devastation told by the affected farmers and towns people was horrific. The appreciation shown to the volunteers was a reward in itself.
In the 12 days, the group assisted pulling down, cleaning up and erecting around 20 kms of boundary fencing in and around Corryong, Cudgewa, Tintaldra, Berringama and Colac Colac.
