But local council elections in Victoria, at this stage, are still planned for October this year.
A total of 126 councils in NSW, including Federation Council, were scheduled to hold elections in September to appoint councillors and mayors.
“To provide certainty to councils, communities and candidates, the NSW Government has made the decision to postpone the September local government elections in the face of the COVID-19 crisis,” Local Government Minister Shelley Hancock advised last Wednesday, March 25.
“The decision to postpone them has not been made lightly but is necessary to ensure the health and safety of voters, the NSW Electoral Commission staff and election candidates.”
