Although there was plenty of interest, no submissions were made against Federation Council’s draft Commercial Use of Footpaths and Roads Policy.

To be reviewed every five years, the policy was formally adopted at council’s monthly meeting on April 21 on the motion of Crs Bronwyn Thomas and Gail Law.
“The website page received 40 page views. The Facebook posts reached 992 people and had 78 post engagements including three likes, one comment and two shares,” Federation Council’s director development and environmental services Susan Appleyard advised councillors.
Ct Thomas asked how pop-up traders, especially in holiday times, fit into the use of footpaths and roads.
A different approval, for itinerant traders would be required, Ms Appleyard responded. She said the subject policy relates to traders who have an existing business and want to use that immediate front shop space at their business.
