Owners Andrew and Melissa Curran are excited to be opening back up again and said they have missed all the staff and customers.
“We have been lucky enough to keep 15 of our staff so all your familiar faces will be here too,” Melissa said.
“Although Burkes may look a little different, the way we do things with the restrictions in place and the quality of food is still there. We look forward to seeing you all from June 1.”
While there is plenty of excitement for the grand reopening, there will still be a number of rules and restrictions in place as the COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to be navigated.
There will be a maximum of 20 people in each section with the usual lunch hours of 12pm – 2pm and two dinner sittings of 5.30pm – 7pm and 7pm – 9pm with bookings essential.
Patrons and staff will also be required to keep up with the social distancing requirements of 1.5m and you must stick to your booked time sitting and leave before the next one starts for staff to clean the area for the next sitting.
You must not come in when unwell as you will be asked to leave if you are and you must sanitise your hands and provide your name and phone number on your arrival of all people dining.
The public bar will also not be open at this stage to drink, you will only be able to have a drink whilst having a meal.
Venue Manager Michelle Gardner said all the staff were excited to be heading back to work and the business would do everything they can to maintain safety standards and ensure the business remained open.
“The staff are all looking forward to getting back to work as we’ve missed all our wonderful customers,” Michelle said.
“We will be doing table service for food and drinks, staff will be cleaning and sterilising all areas after each customer as well as continuous cleaning of door handles, toilets and all surfaces throughout all services.
“Staff will also not be permitted at work if unwell and we will temperature check all staff at the beginning of each shift.
“We are here to do everything we can in these times to keep everyone healthy and safe, both customers and staff.”
The usual nightly specials will be on again with takeaway also still available for lunch and dinner and if you pre-order for pick up staff will even bring your food out to your car.
Make sure to get your booking in so you can welcome back Burkes Hotel and enjoy your pub cooked meals with a nice cold beer.
