But recently, a Cobram woman did not believe her eyes, at first thinking her TattsLotto win was a hoax after checking her ticket.
The thrilled winner held one of six national winning entries, drawn on Saturday.
She won the coveted division one prize as well as division six, bolstering her total prize to $797 015.69.
“I thought for sure it had to be a hoax. I just didn’t believe it could be real,” she said.
“I wasn’t going to believe it until it had been confirmed.”
Speaking to an official from TattsLotto, the disbelieving winner said she was only just beginning to believe she had won.
“I think I know why you are calling,” she said when answering her phone.
“I checked my ticket late on Saturday night and screamed for my daughter to come and double-check it for me.
“I buy a QuickPick ticket every week, but I just never thought I’d win this much.”
When asked how she planned to enjoy her windfall, the woman confessed it would allow her to fulfil a long-held dream of building a new home.
“I’ve never owned my own home and I’ve worked hard all my life,” she said.
“I have always dreamt of building my own home and giving my kids something.
“It’s hard to believe that that dream will come true now.
“I can’t wait to get started on the build. It’s going to be fun.”
