Support was also given for council to identify possible opportunities for the establishment of a Cobram Creative Hub.
General Manager Community Sally Rice said these new hubs were identified in council’s first ever Arts and Culture Strategy 2020-26, heralding in a new era for the development and promotion of the region’s vibrant arts sector.
“This model will be able to provide multi-year funding that allows the hubs to plan over a longer horizon,” Ms Rice said.
“Each hub will receive three annual payments of $30,000 for activities and programs as well as $5,000 in the first year to support each hub’s establishment.
“The hubs will comprise a broad range of members and develop an Action Plan which establishes a program of activities and events through which the Arts and Culture Strategy can be delivered.
“They will also support inclusive and connected communities, value the culture of our First Nations Peoples, support youth-based programs, plan or provide exhibition and performance spaces, identify professional development opportunities for artists and performers, and plan for broader regional access to the arts.
“The development and support of these hubs makes us very excited for the future of arts and culture in Moira Shire.”
Council has approved the applications of the following groups to form a hub in their respective areas - ATA Creative Hub, Yarrawonga; CAN (Creative Arts Numurkah and District) Hub, Numurkah; and the G.R.A.I.N Growing Rural Art in Nathalia Inc, Nathalia.
