Mr Cooley said the “stunning” 4.5 star hotel resort precinct with its restaurant, bar, wellness spa, award winning Black Bull Championship Golf Course and idyllic location are the first elements that attract people to the complex but it’s the country life experience that really stands out when guests arrive.
“The moment I got here I instantly felt relaxed and welcome. This family ethos is what we want to develop here more,” Mr Cooley said.
“At Sebel Yarrawonga we want to embrace local life and a big part of that is also employing locals and welcoming our local community to enjoy this fantastic facility.”
Mr Cooley said over 90% of the staff are locals at Sebel Yarrawonga, and this is something he wants to further embrace.
“Locals bring that local feel and great attitude to their work. With our local team we offer the opportunity to train them further and gain expertise from there.”
Sebel Yarrawonga are currently in the process of a local recruitment drive in a variety of roles including spa and massage therapists, food and beverage attendants and housekeeping attendants.
“We want to bring that relaxed country feel through our service.”
Mr Cooley said that the focus of employing locals is an important but only one part of how Sebel Yarrawonga wants to connect with the community.
He is excited about coming into the warmer months aligning with the roadmap out of restrictions and what the hotel complex brings for locals, visitors coming to the region and the subsequent economic benefits it helps inject into the tourism economy.
“We stive to be a positive part of the region but in particular to the local community,” he added.
“We want locals to understand this hotel is here for them to also enjoy. The spa, restaurants, the Sunset Bar and soon we want to have live entertainment on the terrace.
“We want to be loved by locals and create that great positive word of mouth. We want people to see us as the “new local”.
“Like the signs says as you drive into Silverwoods ‘this is your Sebel’ too,” Mr Cooley said.
