Twenty Adopt-a-Cod sponsors and their families attended the first release of adult cod into the Edward River at Willoughby’s Beach, Deniliquin on Sunday.

Each purchased a special ticket to the 2023 Edward Kolety Fishing Challenge, which gave them entry to the three day event and covered the cost of one mature cod which has been tagged and released.
Sponsors will receive reports about their cod if they are caught and reported by anglers.
There were 21 cod in total released on the day, measuring between 65cm to 76cm each, and guests were also treated to a Rotary Club of Deniliquin barbecue.
The sponsorship ticket is also available for this year’s Fishing Challenge - which is next weekend.
