The match against Tongala was always going to be a tight encounter with both sides expecting a win.
The game didn’t disappoint. The Bears should have gone into the first break in front then at the main break five goals up, not down.
Tongala started the third term strong with the Bears clawing back at the last break.
Turnovers and inability to apply scoreboard pressure cost the Bears the game in the end.

Thirds
Tungamah 0.2-2 defeated by Tongala 13.18-96
The boys knew they would have their work cut out coming up against another top eight side. Although they were undermanned the team was very competitive for the first three quarters and only allowing Tongala to get away in the last with a few easy goals.
Harley Sampson had his best game for the season racking up many possessions.
The boys have yet another tough match, fronting Moama away, so a big team effort will be required. Keep working hard boys and another win will come.

The fourths started the day down a couple of their usual players. On a brighter note Jaxon returned from holidays the night before and was a big help to his team.
The younger players stepped up to fill in the spots of the injured players. Slater, Jett and Judd Haebich really stepped up and were involved in the contest. Braeden did what the coaches asked and applied pressure.
Judd Goldman did a fantastic job around the ground making sure the ball was contested when he was nearby. In the last quarter he moved to the backline and really put some pressure on.
The fourths would like to thank all the people who supported their gate raffle on Saturday and Jeannie Adkins and the Mulwala Waterski Club for organising the prize for 2 nights accommodation.Awards: Crusty Loaf- Slater Goudie. The sun was shining, and these girls shone on the court. The final scores certainly didn’t reflect their determination to attack and deflect.
Defence worked hard in the goal circle and the pressure they put on Tongala’s shooters, slowed the game down.
Midcourt worked tirelessly, improving as the game wore on. Covering the whole court and leading in their attacking, and then feeding well to our shooters.
The team’s shooters moved in and around the goal circle, using each other and with midcourt being an option, they had quick hand and eye coordination to set up for goal.
Some great passages of play and talking heard from the sideline was great to hear. Well done, and good luck for next week!

Another tough game against good opposition. Kait, Josie and Amber continue to work extremely hard in defence. Bridget, Bernadette and Brooke never stopped running in the midcourt. Danielle, Olivia and Kylie (welcome!) tried hard in the ring. Some great set goals are being achieved. Let’s work hard on the goals that still need work!
Awards: Celebrations - Kait Megarrity. Brewit - Olivia Hayes.
C ReserveTungamah 26 drew Tongala 26
Coach Sheryl was keen for the girls to get a win and it was going to be anyone’s game for the taking.
First quarter the team were off to a great start, everyone backing each other up and chasing every ball, Katie coming out firing saw us up 8 goals to 5 at end of the first quarter.
The vibe was very positive, and the girls had given it their absolute all!
In the second quarter Tongala stepped it up, capitalizing on our turnovers but Grace and Sally worked extra hand to score 6 intercepts keeping us in the lead.
The second half was a fight for every ball, so many intercepts, rebounds and taps, it was hard to keep up the stats.
Britt had a ripper game, great delivery into the ring, always an option, and if it got turned over she had arms up all the way down the court.
Vanessa and Anna did a fantastic job providing pressure down the court also switching with Dan to defend her opposition centre.
Stace, Dan, Britt and Sheryl worked seamlessly, making space and driving for the ball. It felt like a final from the side lines celebrating each goal and turnover like the game depended on it!
The last quarter was neck in neck and the girls didn’t stop until the final whistle.
So hard to pick awards as every player did more then what was asked of them (only got called for 1 step in the last quarter).
I know some of the girls were disappointed by the final score, but the silly mistakes were outweighed by the effort, support and gains made by each player, you’re all winners in my eyes!Awards; Byramine Homestead and Brewery - Britt Stacey. Thyme for coffee café - Katie Jarratt.

The sun was shining, although the coolness in temperature wasn’t kind. The girls were sitting just below Tongala, so a win was on the cards.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t their day. Positions were changed and mixed up throughout the second half and gave others a break.
Pressure was applied on occasions and the girls worked tirelessly to get it the ball to our shooters. Defence and attacking caused turnovers and gave them control of the ball, but against a tall and defensive team, our passing sometimes let us down enabling Tongala to win the ball back with their agility.
Scores at the end of each break were Tungamah 7/13/17 and 22 to Tongala 11/18/28 and 36.
The girls ran it out to the end, never not giving up. The encouragement given to each other is a great trait, so keep it up girls, next week is another week. Well done!!

The girls knew it was going to be a tough game coming up against the second side on the ladder.
The defenders worked tirelessly all game to rebound every ball and get it back down the court.
The mid courters have shown improvement to come to the ball and we would like to see this continue. The goalies adapted well to a few changes and attacked every rebound they could.
It’s great to see the girls applying the skills that are being taught at training and applying them to the game.
Let’s lift our spirts girls and bring your determination and resilience as we tackle Moama this week. Back yourselves and continue to work as a team!

Under 13s Mercy rule
The girls knew it would be a hard match up with the undefeated Tongala.
By the end of the first half the mercy rule come into action after the girl’s nerves got the better of them.
With the pressure off, the girls drew the third quarter showing that they are more than capable to keep these strong sides at bay and be just as competitive.
During the last half Heidi, Millie and Addi never gave up proving their constant strong skills.
AJ had her best game yet with fine control and presence in the centre court.
Maddison applied non-stop pressure all game and would like to acknowledge her great sportsmanship.Aliela also worked non-stop in both WA and WD adapting well to a change and a new challenge this week showing her increased confidence and versatility.
In the last quarter Addi and Charlotte swapped ends and played awesome together in defence enjoying a change whilst keeping the pressure on another close last quarter score. Great game girls

Our mini bears game started with a chilly 4 degrees but that didn’t seem to faze the girls.Shylee tried something different this week and played GA for the entire game, the smile still didn’t leave her face and she stepped up to the position and scored most of our goals.
Lara and Chaye both had a turn at helping in the goals with Lara shooting a goal in the fourth quarter and celebrating in style. Chaye used that loud voice of hers to let others know exactly where she was.
The Buerckner girls were back together in defence and used their ‘cousin telepathy’ to know where each other was and to communicate where the other should be. Elli got many rebounds and then even more intercepts.
The ball just seemed to land in Emily B’s hands showing how well she is reading the play, the look of shock on her face when this happened may show otherwise.Molly this week ran and jumped in the midcourt and made herself look 6ft tall with high arms when defending.
Maddie played WA all game and showed how tough she is by fighting for all loose balls and surprising herself with many finger touches on balls, just a little more height and she would make the intercept.Chloe was our C player on the day and she certainly outplayed her opponent, she read the play and didn’t stop running the entire game. The fill in coaches from Thursday night training are taking all the credit for the number of intercepts that occurred in the game with some well thought out drills being taken.
It was a great game to watch with the girls at no time crowding the ball and always making space to ease the play up and down the court.
