The seconds came up against last year’s premiers with plenty to play for. From the outset big man Mitch Pettit dominated the centre bounces and gave the Bears onballers first use.
Richo, Ruban Butts and Matt Powell did not let him down, giving the forwards a good look at the ball. Jarryd Ash and Angus Heslin both had great games up forward and gave the opposition plenty of headaches with their mobility and marking. Down back Hawke, cannonball Whinray and Joel McAllen all played well and continually repelled any advances Mulwala gave.
Ada Connell was best on ground with his dominance across half back and this was a great 4 quarter effort by the veteran. Young Jack Clarke, Blake Adkins and Jack Ardle also gave Mulwala plenty of headaches with their pace and attack on the man and ball.
These three will be a great asset to the side all year as they continued to harass and attack at all costs. Tungamah led all day but it was the last quarter that showed that the Bears wanted the win with everyone buying in to the team and not giving up.
Well done boys on a great first win.
