Belmore St receives attention

With the festive season and an influx of tourists over the forthcoming weeks, Moira Shire Council has taken this time as their opportunity to complete some additional maintenance works along Belmore Street.

Council completed some focused works last week including topping up and compacting granitic sand in parallel parking bays, topping-up treed areas with granitic sand or re-mulching, pressure washing heavily stained concrete areas, replacing any missing street trees and conducting a clean of all seats and bins.

Moira Shire Administrator Graeme Emonson said that Belmore Street is a really important face for the town so council are doing some additional maintenance to lift the general amenity and presentation of the street.

“It is really important for visitors and locals to have a pleasant experience of the main street so we are taking the opportunity to lift the overall appearance,” Mr Emonson said.

“It is needed and there will be more works next year. We are looking to do ongoing presentation works but we tried to finalise most of the work last week to not cause too much disruption leading into Christmas.

“We are being very cautious that we do not want to cause disruption to particularly the traders and visitors so the major maintenance works were completed last week and stay clear over the peak period to complete more works into the new year.

“Please keep an eye out for these works and we apologise for any inconvenience whilst they’re in progress.”
