Beth top Mulwala citizen

Mulwala community advocate Beth Robinson received the Local Achiever Award for Mulwala at this year’s Australia Day awards.

Connected to many local organisations, including her role as secretary of Lonsdale Reserve Committee, Beth said it was an honour to be nominated for the award.

“I thank my parents (Jenny and Peter Orr) for setting the bar high, always being on committees. I’m only doing what you should do,” she said upon receiving the town award from Federation Council Mayor Pat Bourke.

“I thank Possum and Helen Purtle who are awesome for our community, and my husband and family – for doing these things instead of doing the dishes.”

Beth is also a committee member of Mulwala Pre School, Mulwala Public School, Mulwala Football Netball Club, Mulwala Tennis Club, Tunzafun and Mulwala Progress Association.

“Beth leads by example and has been involved in securing funding and driving a number of projects in Mulwala,” Mayor Bourke said.

Those projects have included Lonsdale Reserve’s Bay 13 rebuild, the inaugural kite festival and the town’s Christmas decorations.

Beth’s love for Mulwala is obvious and will continue with projects such as the proposed rebirth of the waterslide at Apex Park.
