Ms Holmberg has been practising chair yoga for the past three decades and has been teaching for the past 10.
In that time, she has helped about 300 participants learn how to control their breathing, improve their flexibility and significantly boost their fitness.
“The benefits it brings to the mind and body are incredible,” Ms Holmberg said.
“I love the sense of relaxation along with the stronger mind and body.”
There was a sense of excitement in the Rochester Shire Hall on Thursday, February 15, as the seniors slowly took their seats, waiting for their next chair yoga session to start.
Leanne had placed 15 seats in a semi-circle, giving each of the attendees a good view of the session for 75 minutes.
“You can see the relief and the release of tension on their faces and bodies when the students finish class,” Ms Holmberg said.
“They’re happier and more relaxed.”

Ms Holmberg said this gentle form of yoga was suitable for all ages and abilities.
“The benefits to your health are great for overall wellbeing as you learn and master the various positions over your lifetime,” Ms Holmberg said.
Prior to becoming a yoga teacher, Ms Holmberg learned from a fellow Echuca resident, Joan Downey, who practised yoga well into her 80s, finally retiring at 88.
“I plan to do this for as long as I still enjoy it,” Ms Holmberg said.
Ms Holmberg runs different yoga sessions throughout the region, including in Echuca, Rochester, Elmore and Lockington.
