Federation Council’s Community Project of the Year went to Mulwala Community Christmas Day Lunch, hosted by Mulwala Football and Netball Club.
Hosted by volunteers from the Mulwala FNC, it is held annually on Christmas Day at the Mulwala clubrooms.
The event is for people 55-years-old and over who would normally be home alone during the festive season.
The lunch is a way of providing an avenue to assist the older community who can become isolated and to encourage making new connections and friendships.
The event has been running for three years and continues to be a highlight for each and every guest as well as always encouraging new guests to attend. This project has been a positive way to deal with a number of sometimes unspoken issues that can impact communities, especially small towns.
Mulwala Public School students Ruby Thomas & Van Kreeck were among the receivers of Student Achievement Awards.
Federation Council has also welcomed six new citizens at the Australian Citizenship ceremony held as part of the Australia Day celebration event.
