Ciavarellas Betta Home Living took home the top accolade thanks to its impressive customer service, sales and ability to reach company targets.
The team was presented with the award during a national conference in Perth last month, which co-owner Shelly Ciavarella said was a validating experience.
“It makes you realise that you are actually doing the right thing,” she said.
“We’ve owned the store now for three years, and we bought it off Dean’s mum and dad, so it’s been a family business for 40 years.
“We’ve just been trying to do our best to make sure that we’re running it right.”
Co-owner Dean Ciavarella said the store did its best to ensure every customer was treated well.
The team goes beyond in-store service, helping patrons to install items they’ve purchased in their homes, such as fridges, beds and televisions.
“We do all those little things. Big stores don’t do that, so that’s the difference,” Dean said.
“I’m positive we can give you a better after-sales service than most of the stores are going to give you.”
The store’s Facebook page was flooded with well-wishers after it announced the win, with over 130 people offering congratulations.
Shelly and Dean said the team had come to learn many of their customer’s names, which stood as a testament to their focus on service.
“We’ve gotten to know them because they come back. They don’t just come and buy from us once,” Shelly said.
“We love our community. Kyabram is a really good little, resilient community. They stick together, and they try to do the right thing by you,” Dean said.
The Ciavarellas thanked the township for its support, and credited their business’ livelihood to its ongoing backing.
As for the future, a variety of new stock is coming into the store from new suppliers, and a reshuffle of in-store fixtures is expected.
