Darren and Gus won their semi-final over Mick Dixon and Ashley Nicholls while Darren and Nev fell in with a very close 2/1 victory over Deb Harbrow and Tony Cincotta.
Apparently Darren Thompson is now considering his options for next year’s championship with normal playing partner, Jake Thompson, being unavailable for this year and possibly struggling for selection in 2020.
Wednesday, October 30 social play was taken out by Baz Jackson in a very welcome return after recent eye surgery.
The game is hard enough on full size tables with perfect vision, so Baz performed very well against the odds to come out a winner.
Well played also to runner up Mick Dixon who is continuing to improve his handicap and get the feel of the local tables.
The Club Challenge final was held on Monday, October 28 and Darren Thompson continued his strong return to form by taking out the event over Tony Cincotta.
Commiserations to Tony and congratulations to Darren who, as club president, does a mountain of work to enjoy snooker so much.
The Thompson clan stranglehold on recent events was then extended on Wednesday, October 30 when Jake took out the social play event over Ashley Nicholls.
Qualifying rounds of the annual singles club championship are being conducted on Sunday, November 10 with the final scheduled for Monday, November 11.

Last year’s runner-up Gus McMillan and the resurgent Darren Thompson are hot on his heels with Darren Edwards following and a blanket thrown over the rest of the field.
