ClubMulwala has reported a profit of $3,271,359 for the 2024/25 financial year, an outcome described as “amazing and fantastic” by club chairperson Des O’Meara ESM, OAM.

While this figure represents a slight decrease from last year’s record profit of $3,574,960, the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Alan Rowe said the year was one of consolidation and reinvestment, with rising costs impacting operations.
“Despite this, I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished and excited about the upcoming phase of our redevelopment when completed in December,” Mr Rowe said.
The redevelopment project involves a $7 million refurbishment of the kitchen and dining precinct by Rubicon Design and Construct, with an expected official opening in mid-December.
Mr O’Meara welcomed the 27 members (15 RSL and 12 associates) at the Annual General Meeting last Sunday, October 19 and congratulated the CEO on his “commitment, foresight and management policies” and his team.
Last December, ClubMulwala acquired the Capricorn Motel to add to its asset register. “It still has a long-term lease to be completed before the club can gain access for any future refurbishment projects,” Mr O’Meara said.
The chairperson said a standout moment over the past 12 months was the $100,000 donation to the Yarrawonga Hospital for the new operating theatre that opened in August.
“The board is proud to be able to support our hospital and will continue to do so in the future,” Mr O’Meara said.
That’s exactly what happened at last Sunday’s AGM when the ClubMulwala Chairperson presented a cheque for a further $100,000 to Yarrawonga Health CEO Robin Haberecht.
“This is amazing. I’m really humbled at the generosity of ClubMulwala,” Ms Haberecht responded.
“The new theatre will be operating next Thursday. We’re still fundraising and now have $800,000 towards our target of $1 million.”
Funding received to date has resulted in the purchase of various equipment, machinery and furniture, including an operating table, emergency equipment and recovery chairs.

In a second highlight of the AGM, Shane McBurnie, a club director for 15 years and long-time member, was inducted as ClubMulwala’s fourth Life Member.
“Shane has demonstrated loyalty, leadership and an enduring passion for ClubMulwala,” Mr O’Meara said.
“Shane’s experience and expertise as a construction engineer have been invaluable to the club, as we move into phase three of the redevelopment projects.”
Mr McBurnie, who turns 60 years of age on October 27, said it was extremely humbling and a great honour to receive life membership.
“I work with a sensational group of directors, and Alan is a sensational CEO. The club is awesome,” the business owner of McBurnie Group, Yarrawonga said.
“With my background, I’ve naturally wanted to provide whatever technical assistance I can to ClubMulwala to see that we have the best standards of construction.
“Being a Life Member is a real privilege because there aren’t that many.”
Ongoing community commitment
ClubMulwala’s commitment to the community continued with donations to many worthy organisations totalling $530,525 for the year, for which it is very proud.
In general business, club member and volunteer on community organisations Jackie Smith praised ClubMulwala’s community donations.
“It’s incredible what this club provides to this community,” she said.
