Members were told the purchase of ClubMulwala’s land from the RSL Sub-branch remained a key priority for the Board.
ClubMulwala operates under a lease arrangement with the RSL Sub-branch, but the Board is keen to secure ownership of the land.
Chairperson Des O’Meara ESM, OAM confirmed the proposed purchase remained a priority, with discussions progressing positively and RSL Victoria now involved in negotiations.
“Any major capital works will be delayed until a potential purchase can be negotiated,” Mr O’Meara said.
“The Board is very hopeful this can be completed to the benefit of all parties.”
The land purchase was among several key matters discussed at the AGM, where Mr O’Meara described this year’s result as an “outstanding effort”.
Although below the previous year's record profit of $3,271,359, he said it had been another highly successful year, with the club maintaining similar revenue levels despite significant renovations and operational disruptions.
Addressing the 27 members in attendance, comprising 14 RSL Sub-branch members and 13 associate members, Mr O’Meara congratulated recently appointed CEO Andrew Patterson on his immediate impact in “sharpening operations and more accurate reporting”.
He also paid tribute to outgoing CEO Alan Rowe for his 12 years of service, during which the club generated a combined $26 million in profit and completed significant renovations.
The club has recently completed renovations to 10 accommodation rooms at its resort, while a new staff room is expected to be finished within the next six weeks.
Further improvements are planned for early 2027, including renovations to the club’s foyer and reception area, although major capital works remain subject to progress on the proposed land purchase.
Mr Patterson also acknowledged the contributions of Mr Rowe and the Board throughout the financial year, highlighting the club’s strong financial position and future opportunities.
“This club is one of the leading clubs in Southern NSW and is in a very strong financial position to take advantage of opportunities in the future,” Mr Patterson said.
“I am very fortunate to have inherit this role at the club with a strong and supportive Board.”
Mr O’Meara highlighted ClubMulwala’s ongoing commitment to the local community, with donations totalling $491,950 during the financial year.
This included a $100,000 contribution to Yarrawonga Hospital towards its new operating theatre, which opened in August 2025.
Three Board members (Vicky Long, Philip Friedlieb and Paul Nieuwenhout) whose three-year terms had expired, renominated for their positions and were re-elected unopposed rejoining Colin Brennan, John Clarke, Michael Hogan, Damien Keel, Shane McBurnie and Des O’Meara on the Board.
