Cobram Junior Soccer Association President, Mario Pardo, said that after the cancellation of the 2020 season due to COVID, the CJSA Committee was very much looking forward to welcoming back players, parents and carers to the pitch for its 2021 autumn-winter soccer season.
“Our Under5’s program and the Under6 - Under13 mixed and all-girls competitions are scheduled to kick off on Saturday, May 1 and will run until mid-August and we are also hoping that we will be able to finish the season with our traditional Gala Day,” he said.
With COVID significantly affecting local junior soccer activities during 2020, Meet the Coach Day on Saturday, April 24, will be an important opportunity for both new and returning players to meet their teams and coaches and to find out more about the upcoming season.
“We were incredibly disappointed that we couldn’t deliver a 2020 season and the committee is really focused on getting kids back to playing soccer and having fun with their friends during 2021,” said Mr Pardo.
Registrations are now open via PlayFootball at https://www.playfootball.com.au/ and will close on Sunday, March 28.
A wait list is currently available for the Under13 mixed age competition (catering for boys born 2008 and girls born 2007), with final age groups for all competitions to be determined based on final registrations.
“We also received funding through a VicHealth Active Club grant to expand our all-girls competition last year, and we are hoping to support two age groups again this year,” added Mr Pardo.
