The weekly event is organised by Yarrawonga Mulwala Community and Learning Centre (YMCLC) and Cheryl says it’s an environment that feels just like home.
Anybody can come together each Monday at either Tame Café or Mulwala Bakery to share a good time over a coffee and cake, and it’s YMCLC’s shout.
Cheryle said the weekly gatherings have a genuine, family feel.
“It's just like sitting in your own kitchen at home, and everyone's popped in to catch up and have a coffee or something to eat,” she said.
After the morning coffee hour, people have the choice to stay in each other's company and participate in arts and crafts, from 11am-2pm.
Cheryle has been volunteering at YMCLC for three years and finds pleasure in getting community members together.
“We all put a smile on each other's faces and really, that's what it's all about,” she said.
“You can feel if someone’s a bit down, so I'll make the time just to sit, have a chat and talk to them about their week, what's happening, just to be there for them.”
The YMCLC is always open for new members to join the weekly morning coffee hour.
