The Boxlands Rose Garden Open Day is on again to support local charity, Friends In Common.
Come along to 1318 Yarrawonga/Katamatite Road Burramine on Sunday, November 2 from 10am-5pm to check out the beautiful gardens with the day to support Friends In Common who do an amazing job raising money for those affected by cancer locally.
The will be a raffle available and delicious, continuous morning and afternoon tea.

Helping Hands sharing kindness, connection and community spirit
The Yarrawonga Health Helping Hands Committee invites the community to come together for a special afternoon tea fundraiser on Sunday, October 26.
This much-loved event to be held from 2pm to 4:30pm at St Cuthbert’s Anglican Church Hall brings people from across the community together for an afternoon of delicious home-baked treats, heartfelt conversation, and genuine connection – all while raising valuable funds to support Yarrawonga Health.
Entry is $25 per guest, payable on arrival, with bookings encouraged for catering purposes via YHVolunteers@yh.org.au.
Guests will enjoy a beautiful selection of high-tea favourites and sweet delights, along with raffles and lucky door prizes generously donated by local businesses and supporters.
“Each event reminds us that compassion and teamwork can achieve extraordinary outcomes,” Helping Hands Committee member Bronwyn Thomas said.
“Every donation, every ticket, and every volunteer hour directly enhances the wellbeing of patients, staff, and families who rely on Yarrawonga Health.”
Since its inception, Helping Hands has made a remarkable difference throughout the Yarrawonga and Mulwala district.
The committee’s fundraising efforts have provided essential medical equipment, supported staff education and development, and improved patient comfort and care.
The committee extends heartfelt thanks to the many individuals and businesses whose generosity makes these initiatives possible.
Their ongoing support ensures Yarrawonga Health remains strong, responsive, and community-focused.
Everyone is encouraged to attend — bring a friend, share a smile, and enjoy an afternoon celebrating kindness, connection, and the spirit of giving.
Enjoy a family day at the Mt Bruno picnic
Celebrate more than 100 years of tradition at the Mount Bruno Picnic on Saturday, October 25 from 1pm to 4pm – a wonderful family day set among the beautiful picnic grounds of the Warby ranges.
Enjoy a relaxed country atmosphere with novelty games, activities for all age and plenty of fun for the whole family.
Cash donation at the gate. BYO afternoon tea, water, picnic rug and chairs.
All children will receive a prize in the fun activities.
Follow the Picnic Day signs from the Glenrowan – Boweya Road to Jones Road, along to the picnic area at Mt Bruno in the Warby Ranges.

Walk4BrainCancer a great success
A gorgeous sunny day in Yarrawonga greeted the Walk4Brain Cancer event held on Sunday October 2 with $9850 raised so far.
This event was in conjunction with the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation seeing people coming from Myrtleford, Wodonga, Albury and the local community converge on Frank Keenan Reserve and Chinamans Island.
Organiser and Glioblastoma Cancer patient Jodie Lovel was grateful to all who donated and helped with the fundraiser with all money to go towards research for new treatment and support for cancer patients.
A big thank you to the businesses who donated: Rich Glen Olive Estate, Relax in Bundalong (Helen Blake), Mulwala water Ski Club, Club Mulwala, Nagle’s Butchery and Yarrawonga Bunnings.
Many thanks to all those who helped on the day.
Yarrawonga Lions Diabetes Walk raises awareness
What an amazing evening Friday was with the million dollar venue, weather and the support from both the public and fantastic Lions family seeing another successful diabetes walk.
Numbers increased this year with more families and pets involved which is what it is all about raising awareness for Diabetes.
Thank you to so many -Tim Roadley who pops up everywhere, the Yarrawonga Yacht Club for allowing the Yarrawonga Lions to be part of their Friday night happy hour and using their kitchen.
A big thank you also to the professional people who were there to participate, support and answer questions.
A huge thank you to the Yarrawonga Lions members who turn up to support so many projects and events.
The Lions Club had donations of $132 and totalled approximately 150km which will be included in Lions Australia ‘Lap the Map’ where clubs hold events endeavouring to walk the circumference of Australia.
Proceeds from this event will go to Lions Assistance Dogs who train hearing, medical and psychiatric assistance dogs. These dogs cost approximately $40,000 to raise, train and be delivered free of charge to recipients
A huge thank you to Lion Ollie who did the hard yards researching appropriate diabetic appropriate recipes and cooking the food.
Finally – thank you to Woolworths Yarrawonga and Suzanne for donating all the ingredients for the sweet pancakes, chilli con carne, water and snacks.
