The grant will assist in an evaporative cooler to be installed in the Hammon Pavilion making it more comfortable for all users.
The total project cost is $4779 with a recommended grant contribution of $4345.
Yarrawonga and Border Agricultural and Pastoral Association Secretary Sue Jackson said the association is delighted to receive the grant from the Moira Shire Council.
“The Hammon Pavilion is used on show day for the children of the Yarrawonga area and visitors to enjoy lots of fun activities and to allow for some relief from the heat will be a wonderful asset,” Ms Jackson said.
“The Show Society appreciated the opportunity to apply for this grant with the Moira Shire and are ecstatic to have had a positive outcome.”
St James Golf Club also received funding for the upgrade of clubhouse interior.
The grant will assist in the replacement of old curtains to improve the clubhouse and attract new members.
The total project cost is $11,735 with a recommended grant contribution of $1804.
The assessment panel comments said: “Good application with support letters, clear budget and potential for the improvements to encourage more events at the facility. Application was originally included replacement of old carpet ($9750).
“Council’s Acting Coordinator of Facilities Maintenance has confirmed the carpet will be replaced as part of Council’s Renewal programming and budget, accordingly this aspect of the application will not be progressed.”
The other two projects included $10,000 to the Cobram Football Club for a new spectator shelter and $10,000 to the Rotary Club of Numurkah for their Numurkah Community Aged Care Bus.
Council received 16 applications for the second round of the 2021/22 Community Strengthening Grants Program. Nine of the applications passed the pre-eligibility stage.
Following assessment, four were recommended for funding at a total cost of $26,149.
To date council have currently distributed a total of $102,436 through the CSG program.
At the Moira Shire Council May ordinary meeting, Councillor Peter Lawless moved the motion to fund the four projects with Cr Ed Cox seconding the recommendation.
“It is good when we get a chance to respond directly to submissions throughout the year,” Cr Lawless said.
“It is great to see if we haven’t been able to help that some projects have been referred on to other funding sources.
“If we can play a small part, it’s good to help and we have a broad selection of projects.
“The projects are all worthwhile and I’m glad to support this.”
