Navdeep has relocated to Corowa from Sydney and is looking forward to her new role, and the chance to be part of a rural community.
“I chose Corowa for my Gradstart year as I wanted to experience living in a rural area,” Ms Kaur said.
“I am expecting the people and the culture to be very different to living in the city, and I am really looking forward to that.
“In Sydney, I have been working as an Assistant in Nursing at Allowah Children’s Hospital, so Corowa Hospital will be a big change and will give me a chance to learn so much and expand my skills.”
Navdeep is looking forward to spending time exploring the Corowa area and hopes to get involved in local community and sporting groups.
“I have played badminton before, but I’ll give anything a go!” said Navdeep.
Navdeep is one of more than 50 newly graduated registered nurses to secure one of highly competitive Gradstart positions with Murrumbidgee Local Health District. The nurses will be based at facilities across the district including Corowa, Deniliquin, Tocumwal and Berrigan.
District Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Christine Stephens said that as part of the Gradstart program new nurses are supported with a comprehensive education and mentoring program to assist the safe transition from university into the workplace.
“Each graduate nurse is linked with local nursing and midwifery staff, nurse educators and managers to ensure they have access to the support needed during their entry into the nursing workforce,” said Ms Stephens.
“The newly commencing graduate nurses bring enthusiasm and excitement to the next stage of their careers and will be a welcome addition to our existing dedicated workforce.”
