Cr Fern Summer addressed public concerns about spending money on international travel and emphasised that this trip “is not a holiday”.

“The public aren’t always favourable about these things and we need to justify it,” Cr Summer said.

“It’s an uncomfortable flight and a full schedule to represent the fruit growers of our region, and ratepayers deserve a report card.”

Cr Steven Threlfall mentioned that he had attended other international events in the past and that this event was cheap in comparison.

Cr Rod Schubert spoke to representatives from Fruit Growers Victoria who expressed their approval of council’s attendance at the event.
