Dance teacher Di Pungitore is hosting another social night on Wednesday, July 22 from 7pm until late, at Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre’s senior citizens room in Mooroopna.
The evening promises a relaxed, welcoming introduction to dance styles, including rock and roll, swing/jive, partner and line dancing, as well as the ever-classic cha cha.
While Ms Pungitore’s regular lessons are for adults only, the social nights themselves are open to everyone, with no age restrictions on attending.
Dressing up is optional but encouraged for those that enjoy it.
While bigger dance events see most attendees dressed to the nines, many still like to make an effort for the social nights too, purely for the fun of it.
Those attending are asked to bring a small plate to share for supper, as the social night has a different flavour to Ms Pungitore’s regular lessons.
“I try to make my social nights a bit of fun, and we have a few dance games and a couple of progressive dancers so everyone meets everyone,” Ms Pungitore said.
Entry is $8, with the night kicking off at 7pm.
Classes usually wrap up about 9pm, but for those keen to keep dancing at the social night, they tend to run a little later – usually until about 9.30pm.
For beginners wanting to get moving and stay active through the colder months, Ms Pungitore says the social nights are the perfect low-pressure entry point.
“The social night is a chance for those unsure about joining a dance group to give it a go by introducing them to a smaller gathering before hopefully getting them to an actual dance,” she said.
